Donald Shakes is incredible in his yoga knowledge. He taught me my 2nd 200hr teacher training and I got very excited for you when he said he would be happy to record a Yoga Nidra for the program. Yoga Nidra guides you through a calming state of yogic sleep. Your nervous system switches from a state of sympathetic neuronal activity (fight/flight) to one of parasympathetic activation (rest/digest). In this state, the body and brain release emotional tension, so we view this as a healing practice. As they say, no supplement in the world can out-perform a well-rested body. To be a well-rested organism we need to value and prioritize getting into this parasympathetic nervous system state. Not only does your mind get a chance to relax and heal, but so does your gut, organs and tissues.
