Meet Max Powers. Max's mission is to help you achieve your goals by bridging the gaps between what you know and what you need to know in order to reach the person you envision to become.
Max has been on the move, participating in a variety of sports since an early age. At the age of 16, Max decided to focus on football. Determined to become a pro, he went on to play 3 years for the University of Montreal. Unfortunately, a knee injury prevented Max from achieving his goal of playing football at the professional level.
In 2010, during a year off from school, Max went on a trip to Brazil and discovered Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This martial art completely changed Max's perspective on physical training and re-defined his understanding of fitness. As a result, mobility and functional movement have become the pillars of his fitness philosophy.
Today I speak to Max about:
The connection between movement and mindset
How the ‘no pain no gain’ mentality is a lie
Why rest and recovery is a key ingredient for ‘gains’
Why we should all have a fundamental idea of how proteins, fats and carbohydrates work
The difference between training and movement, and why everyone needs to move, but not everyone needs to train
Why every good trainer will ask a woman when her period is
Why idolising insta-fitness babes is setting ourselves up for failure
Why sleep is the first medicine
And many other things. This is one Podcast where you’ll want to have a notepad handy to get all that information.
Trigger Warning: We do briefly touch on suicide.
